On our recent trip to Canberra, visited The National Arboretum in Canberra. It is a 250-hectare arboretum created after the area was burned out as a result of the Christmas 2001 and 2003 Canberra bushfires.
Since 2005, planting has been going on to have 100 forests and 100 gardens focussing on threatened, rare, and symbolic trees from around the world.
It also contains the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia
It has a village centre with a cafe and restaurant, and a children's payground
