Mothers' Day High Tea
The Rotary Club of Holroyd recently hosted a morning tea to celebrate Mother’s Day and members were genuinely pleased with the response from the local community. It was held in the Allen Ezzy room (with Allan Ezzy present) at Pemulwuy.
People were invited to not only celebrate but also to learn more about a refuge in the Merrylands area that supports women escaping domestic violence. A spokesperson for the refuge told the gathering that their particular group were self-funding and relied heavily on donations. They receive no government assistance at all.
Each person attending was ask to bring along a women’s sanitary product and the collection, which was huge, will be donated to Share the Dignity.
The money raised on the day is to be donated to the refuge in Merrylands and a representative will attend a meeting of the Rotary Club of Holroyd to collect a cheque for $500.
